How to Clone a Trigger

Clone a Trigger to another Location

Many users have created Triggers with specific Rules that activate, or trigger, Actions. Many Triggers are similar with only subtle changes to a Rule or a Action. To help Users create Triggers with similar properties within a location you have always been able to Clone Triggers; in essence make a copy of an existing Trigger. The Trigger then appears in the same Location's list of Triggers with the words (copy) in its Name. The User then edits the Trigger, making the minor adjustments to the clone before making it unique and an independent new Trigger in its own right.

But what if you wanted to clone or copy the properties (Name, Rules, Actions) of a Trigger at say Corporate Headquarters and create that Trigger in another Location; say New York Office.

You can Clone an existing Trigger and tell the app to add it to the list of Triggers in another Location. In the screen below I am selecting my Working Alone Trigger and in the dropdown list of Run Action options I select Clone to a Location.

I then select the actual location I wish to copy or clone my Trigger to (in my example New York) and select the blue Run Action button.

The Trigger now appears in my New York location list of Triggers.

Note the Cloned Trigger is auto set to 'Disabled' and you will have to select the green View button, make your specific edits for the new location, and then make the Trigger Active and you are good to go.

Clone a Trigger to the same Location

Select the yellow/orange Clone button alongside the Trigger yo wish to clone.

Once selected a clone of the Trigger will appear with the word (copy) in its title.

Note the Cloned Trigger is auto set to 'Disabled' and you will have to select the green View button, make your specific edits for the new Trigger, and then make the Trigger Active and you are good to go.
