How it works
Global roaming gives an employee access to multiple locations. When applied, a visitor is able to select the global roaming employee at any location they have access to as their host.
Global roaming can be limited to certain locations or open to all locations, and it can be toggled on and off by an Administrator.
Employees | When an employee has been given global roamer status, they can sign in to multiple locations and host visitors anywhere they can access. |
Visitors | Visitors can choose any employee with access to the location they are signing into as their host. This means that they can visit an employee with global roamer status outside of their home location. |
Contractors | If the 'Visiting Someone' option is active, a contractor can select any employee with access to the location, including global roamers. Contractors can access multiple locations through the Organizations tab in their member profile under Location Permissions. |
Enable global roaming
Only Administrators can enable global roaming for an employee in a location. There are two ways to enable this:
Update a single employee
To activate global roaming for one employee:
- Go to Locations, then select the location from the drop-down list.
- Select Employees.
- Use the keyword search to find the employee, then click View next to their name.
- Select Employee Settings from the left-hand menu.
- For global roaming, click Yes.
- For global roaming Locations, click Update Selection.
- Select the locations you want to grant the employee access to, then click Close.
- Click Save.
The employee will now be able to sign in to all locations enabled for their profile.
To turn off global roaming, simply repeat the steps, change global roaming to No, and Save. The employee will have global roaming status until an administrator turns it off.
Update multiple employees
You can manage global roaming for multiple employees using the run action menu. Update up to 1,000 records at a time using this method.
To activate global roaming for multiple employees:
- Go to Locations, then select the location from the drop-down list.
- Select Employees.
- Use the checkboxes to select the employees to enable global roaming.
- Click Run an Action, then select Enable Global Roaming.
- Select the locations for the global roaming to apply to.
- Click Run Action.
The employees will now be able to sign in to all locations enabled for their profile.
To turn off global roaming, repeat the steps above but select Disable Global Roaming from the Run an Action menu. The employee will have global roaming status until an administrator turns it off.
