Once you have enabled the Alcolizer integration and selected the locations it is available for, you need to enable it on your kiosks.
The method of configuring the connection depends on the type of kiosk you are using, iPad or Windows. Please select your kiosk type below for instructions.
Your Alcolizer unit must be installed and set up before you can configure the connection.
iPad configuration
To connect the Alcolizer unit to your iPad kiosk, they both need to be on the same wireless network and the IP Address and Port Number from the Alcolizer unit are used to connect the two devices.
You also must enable local network permissions in the OnLocation Kiosk app settings.
Retrieve Alcolizer connection details
You will need a keyboard plugged into your Alcolizer unit to retrieve these details.
- Press F1 to open the Alcolizer configurations.
- Record the IP Address under Network Connections >eth0.
- Press and hold ALT to open the menu.
- Navigate down to Network.
- Press Enter.
- Select the Services
- Enable the Authorization Over Network
- Record the Port number.
- Press F1 to return to the Alcolizer interface.
You should have recorded the IP Address in step 2 and Port number in step 8 above.
Enter connection details in iPad
- Log into OnLocation Kiosk with your kiosk credentials.
- Tap the Kiosk Menu in the top-right corner.
- Select Kiosk Settings.
- Enter your PIN.
- Next to Alcolizer Settings, tap Configure Connection Details.
- Enter the IP Address and Port from the Alcolizer settings.
- Tap Test Settings. If the settings have been entered correctly, a pop up will display.
If not set up correctly, you will receive an error message and will need to check the connection details and wireless network. - Tap OK on the pop up.
- Tap Save Connection Details.
- Tap Enter Kiosk.
Windows configuration
To connect the Alcolizer unit to your Windows kiosk, you need to connect the two using a female DB9 serial cable and a RS232 port cable. If your kiosk does not have a serial port, we recommend using a serial to USB adapter.
Enable fixed serial port connection in Alcolizer
You will need a keyboard plugged into your Alcolizer unit to enable this.
- Press F1 to open the Alcolizer configurations.
- Press and hold ALT to open the menu.
- Navigate down to Serial Ports.
- Press Enter.
- Enable the Fixed Port – Connection
- Press F1 to return to the Alcolizer interface.
Configuring Alcolizer connection on the kiosk
To configure the connection on your kiosk you need to install a program to allow your browser to communicate with the Alcolizer unit.
- Log into MRI OnLocation with your kiosk credentials.
- Tap the Kiosk Menu in the top-right corner.
- Select Kiosk Settings.
- Enter your PIN.
- Click Configure Connection Details.
A pop-up will prompt you to download the program to install for your operating system. - Click the appropriate link.
- Download and run the installer.
These steps are for a Windows setup.
- Click Next.
- (Optional) Choose the Destination Folder.
- Click Install.
- Once complete, click Close.
- Return to the browser and refresh.
A pop-up will prompt you to allow OnLocation to connect to the program. - Tick Remember this decision.
- Click Allow.
A drop down will appear in the Kiosk Setting for you to select a port. - Select the port that the Alcolizer unit is plugged into.
- Click Test Alcolizer.
If the settings have been entered correctly, a pop up will display.
If they have not been set up correctly, you will receive an error message. You will need to check the connection. - Click OK on the pop-up.
- Click Enter Kiosk.
