Learn how to include a government-issued QR code into your kiosk sign-in flow. You need the administrator user role to access these settings.
Before you start
Before you start, make sure you have:
- Generated the government-issued QR code for your location
- Saved your QR code as an image file in JPEG or PNG format. You may need to take a screenshot or use a snipping tool to create this file.
- Set up your kiosk in MRI OnLocation
- Configured the basic questions for your sign-in flow
Update the sign-in flow for a touchless kiosk
1. Create a questionnaire
- Go to Locations, then select the location from the drop-down list.
- Select Sign In/Out Questions.
- Select the Custom Questionnaires tab.
- Click Create a New Questionnaire.
- Enter the questionnaire name, then select the audience and frequency that the questionnaire should show.
If you have multiple questionnaires and they need to be presented in a particular sequence, add a number to the beginning of the questionnaire name. - Click Save.
2. Add the custom questions
This example is for a standard kiosk that also includes a QR code for touchless sign-in. If your kiosk does not have this option enabled, you can skip steps 2-7 and 16-23.
- Click Add Question.
- Add ‘How are you signing in today?’ (or similar) as the question.
- Select Single Choice as the question type.
- Select the checkbox next to Compulsory Question.
- Under Options Available, click Add an Option, then enter 'Kiosk'. Click Add an Option again, then enter 'On a phone'.
- Click Save and Close.
- Click Add Question.
- Add ‘Open the COVID-19 contact tracing app on your phone and scan this QR code’ (or similar) as the question.
- Select Image Waiver as the question type.
- Click Add an Image, then select the QR code image file from your computer.
- Select the checkbox next to Compulsory Question.
- Under Options Available, click Add an Option, then enter ‘Scanned’.
- Next to Parent Question, select How are you signing in today? => On a kiosk. This setting is only required if you have completed steps 2-6.
- (Optional) Update the question timeout settings if you’d like to extend the period that a visitor has to scan the code.
- Click Save and Close.
- Click Add Question.
- Add ‘Scan the government QR code displayed next to the kiosk?’ (or similar) as the question.
- Select Single Choice as the question type.
- (Optional) Select the checkbox next to Host notification.
- Select the checkbox next to Compulsory Question.
- Under Options Available, click Add an Option, then enter ‘Scanned’. Click Add an Option again, then enter ‘Not Scanned’.
- Next to Parent Question, select How are you signing in today? => On my phone.
- Click Save and Close.
3. Check the questionnaire
On the Questionnaire Details screen, click Preview, then select your kiosk type.
Click through the preview to check the wording and layout. Click Close Preview.
If you need to make any changes:
- To update the wording, click Manage next to the question, then make the required updates.
- To update the layout, go to the kiosk settings, select the Layout tab, then select the Mobile sign in sub-tab (if you have a OnLocation QR code on your kiosk).
You can customize the instructions to highlight the government QR code, change the color contrast for the text and buttons, and more.
4. Activate the questionnaire
- Go to Locations, then select the location from the drop-down list.
- Select Sign In/Out Questions.
- Click Manage next to the questionnaire.
- Click the questionnaire status, then click Activate.
- Select the touchless sign-in modes that the questionnaire should appear.
- Click Save.
5. Create an acknowledgment notice (optional)
Add an acknowledgment notice highlighting the government QR code so that everyone signing in must confirm that they're aware of the requirement.
To set up the notice:
- Go to Locations, then select the location from the drop-down list.
- Select Important Notices.
- Click Create a New Notice.
- Select Acknowledgment as the notice type.
- Add a notice name.
- Choose Sign In as the Display Notice on setting.
- Select the publish and archive dates.
- Select Each time the person signs in/out during the Published Period as the frequency.
- Add your notice message. This example uses:
It is a legal requirement that all visitors must scan the government-issued QR code when entering a workplace. Please confirm that you have scanned the QR code displayed on the kiosk or poster at the entrance. - Select Visitors as the audience.
- (Optional) Choose the labels for the acknowledgment buttons. This example uses Confirm and Decline.
- Click Preview Notice to check that the message looks correct.
- Click Save.
The next time a visitor signs in on a standard kiosk, they will see the QR code during the sign-in process.
