Kiosk Printer Scanner (Barcode & QR)

An iPad Kiosk is the most common set up for Sign In/Out Kiosks. Using an iPad, you can print visitor labels using the Brother QL series of wireless printers connected through the Wi-Fi, and scan QR codes using the built-in iPad camera or barcodes and QR codes using the Socket Mobile scanner connected through Bluetooth.

Required:

  • iPad Air or iPad Pro (iOS 10+)
  • iPad Stand

Optional:

  • Brother QL-820NWB or QL-810W printer
  • Brother labels

Kiosk Printer  Scanner (Barcode & QR) Scanner (RFID)

A Windows tablet gives you further flexibility on your choices of hardware while keeping a tablet-sized touchscreen Kiosk. You can use the Brother QL series, the Dymo 450 series, or the TEMPbadge BP4 (sometimes called GoDex DT4) printers. There is no built-in scanner on a Windows tablet but you can use any plug and play scanner, we have recommended one of many options below. You can also use an RFID reader to read access control cards, the pcProx Plus reader is able to read a wide variety of frequency cards, however, you can use any RFID reader that is able to read the frequency of your cards.

Required:

  • Windows Surface Pro or Surface 3+

Optional:

  • Brother QL series or Dymo LabelWriter 450
  • Badge pass labels
  • Motorola Zebra DS9208 barcode scanner and/or pcProx Plus RFID reader
  • Windows Surface stand

Kiosk Printer Scanner (Barcode & QR) Scanner (RFID)

A desktop computer allows your visitors to use your Kiosk on a larger screen with a keyboard and mouse. This is a more user-friendly setup for industries with users less familiar with touchscreen technology. You can use any desktop or laptop running Windows 8 or above, but we recommend using a newer model running Windows 10 to ensure a smooth workflow.

You can use the Brother QL series, the Dymo 450 series, or the TEMPbadge BP4 (sometimes called GoDex DT4) printers. You can use any plug and play scanner for scanning barcodes, we have recommended one of many options below. You can also use an RFID reader to read access control cards. The pcProx Plus reader is able to read a wide variety of frequency cards, however, you can use any RFID reader that is able to read the frequency of your cards.

For a receptionist using a computer to sign people in and out, you can also scan visitor photo ID’s using our WolScan app on an iPhone. This is an optional added security measure used to automatically record your visitors’ IDs. You can use WolScan on any iPhone with the latest iOS but we would recommend using a later model for longevity.

Required:

  • Desktop or laptop computer (Windows 10)
  • Keyboard and mouse

Optional:

  • Brother QL series or Dymo LabelWriter 450
  • Badge pass labels
  • Motorola Zebra DS9208 barcode scanner and/or pcProx Plus RFID reader
  • iPhone 8+

Printer Alternatives

TEMPbadge BP4 / GoDex DT4

These printers can be used as an alternative to the Dymo or Brother printer for Windows Kiosk setups. They can be purchased from either IDenticard as the TEMPbadge BP4, or from other suppliers as the GoDex DT4.

When using the TEMPbadge BP4, you can also use the TEMPbagde T6151 or 02050 expiring labels. Otherwise, you can use the Dymo 99015 labels for either printer, which are the same size but do not automatically expire.

We would suggest using these printers if you are an IDenticard customer or want to use an expiring badge pass.

Because the GoDex DT4 is a rarer printer, we do not have suggested suppliers around the world for this product. If you have a preferred supplier, you may ask if they stock this model.

You can purchase the TEMPbadge BP4 printer and labels from IDenticard in the United States and Canada.

ID Card Printers

If you want to print permanent ID cards for employees and/or service providers using WhosOnLocation, you will need an ID card printer that supports printing to CR80 sized cards.

Any ID Card printer that can print on CR80 cards is compatible with WhosOnLocation as printing ID cards is not automatic, therefore printer settings can be adjusted as required.

Mobile Computers

CipherLab RS31 & RS50 Series

The CipherLab RS31 & RS50 series is a smartphone-like touch mobile computer precisely designed to meet the demands of mobile workers in industries such as construction and manufacturing, in conjunction with our WolGuard app.

These have built-in RFID, Barcode, and QR Code scanning technology which integrate seamlessly with the WolGuard app. This allows users to quickly find and manage the presence of employees and contractors by scanning a code or tapping an RFID card associated with their profile.

Find out more about these devices at the CipherLab Website.
