When you're using the eLearning induction builder to create a course, you can add the following types of content to your course.
Text
Text tools appear at the top of the page when you have a text section selected. You can use these to change the text emphasis, color, size, highlight, font, and alignment. You can create lists and hyperlinks, add special characters, and view and edit the HTML code.
When adding a hyperlink to text, you have the option to link this to a document in your Online Course Assets.
Images
When hovering over an image two icons appear. The top icon is used to link the image and import an image from your online course assets, the bottom icon is used to upload an image from your computer.
To import an image from your online course assets:
- Hover over the image, then click the link icon.
- Next to Source, click Select from Asset Library.
- If you have course asset categories set up, select the category your image is nested under
- Select the image you want to import, then click Select.
- Click OK.
- Resize the image by clicking on the corner of the image and dragging the image so it's bigger or smaller.
- Drag to reposition the image.
- Set the dimensions of the image box using the Dimensions button
- Click Ok.
- To add a link to an image, hover over the image and select the top icon, enter the URL in the Link section, and click OK.
To upload an image from your computer:
- Hover over the image in the induction builder, then select the camera icon.
- Select the image you want to upload.
- Click Open.
- Resize the image either by using the + and - buttons.
- Drag to reposition the image.
- Set the dimensions of the image box using the Dimensions button.
- Click Ok.
Videos
You can embed either YouTube or Vimeo videos.
To add a video:
- To change the video in your induction course, hover over the video, then click Edit Link in the top left-hand corner.
- Either enter the URL for the embedded video or click Select from Asset Library, select the video you want to embed, then click Select.
- Click OK.
Questions
Questions are used to test the learning of the person taking your induction course. There are different types of questions that you can attach to the relevant pages in your induction course, you can choose where you want them to appear for the learner, and choose the pass rate.
To add questions to a relevant page, from the induction builder:
Select the relevant page from the left-hand sidebar:
- Click Questions.
- Select Add a Question.
- Fill in the details.
- Click Save Question.
You can set questions to appear after each page they are attached to, after each topic, or at the end of the course. To change this setting, from the induction builder:
- Click Questions.
- Select Question Workflow.
- Select your required setting, then click Save.
You can adjust the number of questions the learner needs to get correct to pass the course. To change this setting, from the induction builder:
- Click Questions.
- Select Pass/Fail.
- Choose whether you want learners to pass a number or a percentage of questions.
- Add the required amount.
- Click Save.
Topics
Topics are used to identify different sections of your induction course, e.g. introduction, hazards, emergency procedures, etc. Topics are useful for keeping your induction course organized, and questions in the relevant sections. You need at least one topic for your induction course, however, you do not need to have multiple if this is not required.
To add a topic to a page before it is saved, click Topic, select the relevant topic, then click Close.
To add new topics, edit existing topics, and remove topics, click Topic, then click Manage Options. Buttons for renaming and deleting current options will appear (you will not be able to delete a topic with pages currently nested under it).
To add a new topic, click New Option, enter the name of the topic, then click Save. When you’re finished adding, renaming, or deleting, click Finish Editing to save your changes.
Library
The library tool helps ensure consistency across induction courses. Adding pages to your library allows you to quickly insert them into other induction courses. You can also edit your saved pages in the Course Page Library from the Induction Courses page.
- To add a page to your library, click Library in the induction builder, then select Add page to the library.
- To insert a page into your course from your library, click Library in the induction builder, then select Import page from library, select the page you’d like to insert, and click Import.
