The print settings will save in your browser. Next, set up silent printing.

Step 2: Create a silent printing shortcut

To enable silent printing mode, you need to create a desktop shortcut for your browser and update the target in the properties. The below example is for Chrome but the same instructions also work with Edge and Firefox.

The current version of Edge prevents silent printing from working. If you need silent printing enabled, use Chrome or Firefox while this issue is being resolved by Microsoft.

To create a silent printing shortcut:

  1. Right-click the browser icon on your desktop or in File Explorer.
  2. Select Create shortcut. If prompted to create on desktop select Yes.
  3. (Optional) Rename the shortcut for easier recognition.
  4. Right-click the browser shortcut.
  5. Select Properties.
  6. In the Target field, after what is currently there, enter --kiosk-printing "login.whosonlocation.com". Make sure there is a space between each string.
  7. Click Apply.

When opening this version of your browser, labels will be printed automatically. Make sure no other browser windows are open before using this shortcut or the silent printing won't work.

Step 3: Set up kiosk mode

If you're using a computer for your sign in/out kiosk, kiosk mode opens the browser in a locked full screen. This means the public cannot access the address bar or browser setting. The below example is for Chrome but the same instructions also work with Edge and Firefox.

To enable kiosk mode:

  1. Right-click the browser shortcut.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. In the Target field, add --kiosk before "login.whosonlocation.com". Make sure there is a space between each string.
  4. Click Apply.

You can only exit kiosk mode by using the keyboard to close the browser or by restarting the computer.
