About inductions
Many organizations require their employees and contractors to be aware of their health and safety, and security policies, as well as the correct and approved procedures for undertaking or controlling tasks and jobs. Formal induction or eLearning courses are often employed as part of wider health and safety and security practices.
There are many options for delivering induction courses, including PowerPoint, paper-based course booklets, site walk-throughs, videos, or the use of external third-party induction programs.
The induction management add-on makes it easy to maintain induction records, regardless of how the course was delivered. You can set up notifications, so you're alerted when courses are expiring or set up triggers to deny access if an employee or contractor hasn't completed a course or if it expires.
Types of courses
There are four types of induction courses in OnLocation:
- Internal – courses are presented by someone in your organization. This course type is used to manually record the date employees and/or contractors completed the course and track the next renewal date.
- External – courses presented by someone outside your organization. This course type is used to manually record the date employees and/or contractors completed the course and track the next renewal date.
- eLearning – create a course using our induction builder to deliver it online, or through an on-site induction kiosk. OnLocation tracks when the course is completed, the number of attempts the learner has made, and when the course expires.
- SCORM Cloud – If you've created a SCORM course in a separate authoring tool, you can set up the SCORM Cloud integration to deliver your course online, or through an on-site induction kiosk. OnLocation tracks when the course is completed, the number of attempts the learner has made, and when the course expires.
